God Is Good, For Real.

The same God who created the mountains, the oceans, the sky and everything around you is the same God that thought you'd be pretty great too. This God is loving, powerful and perfect, so why do people doubt His good virtue?

What I've heard most from people who don't believe in God is "How can God be real, and murder, rape, and other horrific crimes still go on?" I don't have all the answers, and I'm not trying to pretend like I do, but what I do have is an explanation that helped me understand this idea a lot better.

God is good, that's all there is to it. He works in mysterious ways and when you least expect it. Because people don't know where to look for God, including me, it's easy to assume He's not there. He is there though, He’s always there, in the good, bad and ugly.

"I don't have to live in darkness. I have been called by God into his wonderful light!" - 1 Peter 2:9

There will always be evil in the world; there will still be darkness and temptation. The evil does not come from God. God has all the power to intervene and stop the corruption. However, that is not His will. He wants us to choose the light, to actively choose Him.  A few weeks ago I posted about why it's important for us to use our free will to choose Him. He's not interested in forcing us to do His will, so yes there are still people who choose poorly and follow the temptations or evil.

"I am a child of God." John 1:12

This verse is important to remember; I am a child of God, you are a child of God, even your worst enemy is a child of God. Even the most heinous people on the earth are still His children. He hopes every day that they decide to choose the light, which is why He doesn't interfere in these awful sins that take place on Earth. If God intervened, He would be stripping us of our free will, and the freedom to love with open arms.

While it's always hard to understand why bad things happen, and especially why bad things happen to good people, we have to remember it is God's will for us to come back to Him by our choice. When in doubt of whether something is good or bad remind yourself of Psalm 139: 7-12 "No matter where I go, God will be there with me, guiding me and taking care of me."
