Why you should embrace your FREEDOM!
Freedom is a great thing. It's liberating, exciting and most of al FREEING! What a lot of people forget is, where our inherent "free will" actually comes from. Yup, you guessed, the big guy upstairs, the big G-O-D.
The Lord from the start of time granted us the ultimate wish of free will. There are so many definitions relating to freedom. What is freedom by definition exactly?
"The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint."
"the power of self-determination attributed to the will."
"the state of not being subject to or affected by (a particular undesirable thing)."
What do you think of when you picture freedom? Is it an eagle soaring? A flag flying? I think of the ability to have nothing weighing on my shoulders. Where this sense of ease and our ability to choose our lives comes from the Lord and the undeserving gift of free will. Here are few reasons why we should embrace our God-given freedom:
1) "Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free." - Psalm 91:14-15.
He gives us something that to us seems so second nature, we don't even second guess our ability to choose. When we are struggling or when we start to feel like we have nothing left, he's right there taking care of us. He reminds us of the gift He has given us and the ability to choose a life glorifying him.
2) "That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God." - Romans 8:21
Society is an interesting and wonderful thing. Cultures change and evolve for the better but with each change comes challenges. We find ourselves molding to whatever the new fad is, but is it even worth it? We were created to live in the freedom the Lord gave us, not to sit back and try to conform to a society that's not glorifying God.
3) "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." - 2 Corinthians 3:17
Wouldn't it be cool if everywhere you went you had freedom? Surprise, it's true! God isn't holding anything from us. He wants us to actively choose him so He can continue to bless us as we live our lives. The Lord's spirit is with us wherever we go, so naturally, His blessings do too.
Freedom all boils down to living God's word. When we set our hearts on God and live a life pleasing to him we can live truly free. To live truly free is to live as God's children.
